MANGER MÉDITERRANÉEN POURQUOI PAS?

Avez-vous déjà goûté à la véritable cuisine méditerranéenne ? Je vous propose une bonne adresse : le restaurant Ammos au Centropolis, en plein cœur de Laval.

À mon arrivée, je ne m’attendais à ce que l’intérieur soit si élégant. L’environnement des lieux est somptueux et unique. La fenestration est abondante et tout laissait présager une belle soirée. Ce fut une surprise de taille. Avant de prendre connaissance du menu, j’ai demandé au propriétaire ce que signifiait Ammos. « C’est un mot d’origine grec qui veut dire sable en français. Je suis originaire de l’île de Céphalonie, la troisième île en importance après la Crète et Rhodes. J’ai baptisé le restaurant du nom Ammos en guise de mes origines méditerranéennes », raconte George Antypas, propriétaire de l’établissement.

La cuisine méditerranéenne n’a plus de secrets pour George Antypas et son chef Nikos Kontogiannis. Les desserts maison, l’arrivage de poissons frais de la Méditerranée au restaurant deux fois par semaine, le choix de plus de 200 bouteilles de vin des principaux pays producteurs et le choix varié d’entrées et de plats principaux font du restaurant Ammos un endroit recherché par les gens d’affaires le midi, les amateurs de bonne chair et les clients à la recherche d’une soirée bien arrosée. Fruits de mer, poissons et grillades, voilà les trois spécialités de la maison.

Comme entrée, j’ai hésité entre la galette de saumon et un plat aux crevettes. Il y avait aussi les tapas servis après 17h00. C’était réellement embarrassant comme choix. Finalement, je me suis arrêté sur les crevettes. Quelques minutes plus tard, le propriétaire m’a servi une assiette au fromage saganaki. Tout à fait sublime. Délicieux. Un fromage fondu avec un petit goût salé. Un petit conseil : à déconseiller pour ceux et celles qui suivent un régime minceur. Mais une fois n’est pas coutume !

Comme plat de résistance, je n’ai pas hésité longtemps. Le menu proposait une assiette au thon baignant dans une salade maison à la saveur et à la préparation méditerranéennes. Les légumes étaient cuits à point et le thon était très tendre.

Parmi le choix de desserts, j’aurais choisi le Soufflé au chocolat Valrhona, une spécialité de la maison. Ce dessert exige une préparation d’au moins quinze minutes et faute de temps je me suis rabattu sur une crème glacée maison au chocolat. Encore une fois, la qualité du produit fut au rendez-vous.

Le midi, le restaurant Ammos propose un dîner d’affaires avec un menu trois services. Facile d’accès, près de l’autoroute 15, les clients peuvent garer leur voiture gratuitement dans l’un des nombreux stationnements du Centropolis à Laval. Un avantage apprécié des clients qui leur permet de reprendre la route rapidement après le dîner.
