Une femme a perdu la vie samedi soir, après que le véhicule à bord duquel elle prenait place eut plongé dans le lac de l’Achigan, à Saint-Hippolyte, dans les Laurentides.
Selon Claude Denis, porte-parole de la Sûreté du Québec, le drame est survenu vers 17 h 30, quand l’automobile, conduite par un homme n’a pu s’immobiliser dans une pente, en raison de la chaussée glacée, alors que le conducteur tentait d’accéder à une entrée privée située sur la 305e Avenue. Une fois dans le lac, l’homme est parvenu à s’extirper du véhicule et a tenté de porter secours à la passagère, sans succès. Des pompiers et des policiers, appelés sur place, ont réussi à libérer la femme et ont tenté des manoeuvres de réanimation, mais son décès a été constaté au centre hospitalier où elle avait été conduite.
Le conducteur a aussi été transporté, par mesure préventive, vers un centre hospitalier. Les enquêteurs de la SQ le rencontreront lorsque son état le permettra, afin d’établir avec précision les causes du fatal accident.
